LINCOLN COUNTY EVENTS

FALL YOUTH SOCCER.  The City of Lincolnton Parks and Recreation is currently accepting soccer registration for the 2010 Youth Fall Soccer League.   Registration for the league will be held at the Lincolnton Recreation Pool at Betty G. Ross Park on Saturday, August 28 from 10am - 5pm and on Sunday, August 29 from 1pm – 5pm.  Interested players can also register Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm at Betty G. Ross Park. The Recreation department is also seeking persons interested in being volunteer coaches for the youth soccer league.  For more information, please contact the Recreation Office at 735-2671.

8/28: SADIE’S SONGS FOR LIFE-a night to celebrate the life of Sadie Marie Redding.  All proceeds go to the Sadie Marie Redding Scholarship Fund.  A donation will be made to LifeShare of the Carolinas in memory of Sadie as well.  The purpose of this concert is to also raise awareness about the importance of being an organ and tissue donor.  But, above that, it is important that everyone knows that through Christ, you can have eternal life.  Celebration will be held at the Citizens Center in Lincolnton.  Doors open at 6:00pm.  Musical performances by: New Sanctuary, Open Ember, Narrow Road, and special performances by Becky Beattie and Ashlie Kelley Link.  Fundraisers are: donation at the door, silent auction and refreshments sale.  For more info, please visit www.myspace.com/sadiessongsforlife, or e-mail Laura Page at SadiesSongsforLife@gmail.com.

9/10: Lincoln County Extension & Community Assoc., Inc. (ECA) is sponsoring A TOUR OCTOBER 12-15TH TO THE AMISH COUNTRY IN LANCASTER, PA. The tour includes round trip Motor Coach transportation, admission and reserved seating to Joseph at the Millennium Theater and Church Basement Ladies at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater, visit to Hershey Chocolate Factory, guided tour of Gettysburg, three nights motel accommodation, 2 dinners, and three full breakfasts. 9/25: BARK FOR LIFE at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton.  Registration will start at 12 noon and the relay will be from 1-4. There is a $25 fee for spaces or food booths. Sponsors are $750 down to $100.The Lincolnton Animal Hospital is the main sponsor.  Dog fees are $15 a dog. Money raised goes to the American Cancer Society.

10/2: BENEFIT FOR BURT CANIPE, 42 year old diagnosed with cancer.  SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: $125 entry fee, 44” core balls (525 compression), 1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophies.  HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT: $10-singles, 1st place trophy.  CAR SHOW: $10 donation.  Benefit will be held at Crowe Park.  Brackett will be drawn Thursday, September 30th.  First game will start at 9:00am on Oct. 2nd.  There will be hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks available for purchase.  To register or for more details, call John Whiteside 980-241-2919; Joel Jolly 828-447-0106; or Scott Bradshaw 828-980-2525.
